Obituary for Patty Lou Bratton

Patty Lou Bratton, 78, a resident of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away on February 25, 2024, in Mangum. Patty was born on December 1, 1945, to Sanford J. Chapman, and Lena Francis (Lutrell) Chapman. Patty was the baby of the family, she had two older brothers, Corky and Jim, and one older sister, Betty. Patty graduated from Mangum High School in 1963. During high school, she played basketball, and the team made it to the state championship twice. Patty married Robert (Bobby) Bratton on January 16, 1965, at the First Baptist Church in Mangum. The two were married 58 years before his passing in 2023.

Bobby and Patty lived in numerous places including Maine, England, and Oklahoma City, before returning to Mangum to make their home. Patty had a career in banking for many years, working at First National, Guarantee State, and Stockman’s Bank of Mangum before retiring in 2019. Patty was known by her clients for her infectious smile, her kind heart, and caring demeanor.

Patty loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Mangum where she loved singing in the choir. Patty was soft spoken with a kind, beautiful soul. She loved going to church, working in her yard, and most of all she loved her fur babies. She enjoyed spoiling them by cooking “supper” for them daily. She leaves a legacy of kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for family.

Patty is preceded in death by her parents, Sanford and Lena Chapman; Husband, Bobby Bratton; Brothers, Glen (Corky) Chapman and Jim Chapman and Sister, Betty Goode. 

Left to honor her loving memory are her nephews, Jeff Goode and wife Terry, and Mark Chapman; Sister-in-law, Ramona Chapman; Brother-in-law, Blake Bratton and wife Charlotte; Nieces, Alexandra Bratton, Juliana Dayton and husband, Kevin, and Angela Devoe and husband Seth; Great Nephews, Sidney Goode and wife Tessa, Joseph Goode, Will and Jack Devoe; Great Niece, Isabella Dayton; Great-Great Niece and Nephew, Bailey and Bentley Goode, as well as numerous close friends; and her very special and very loved fur babies, Ratchet and Nicky.
