Melissa Renée Blain, 55, a longtime resident of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away on October 13, 2023, in Mangum.
On September 27, 1968, in Amarillo, Texas Fred and Kathy (Fraley) Brewster rejoiced at the birth of their daughter, Melissa Brewster. While attending Mangum High School, she played in the band and was an accomplished flutist and was a flag girl. Melissa graduated with the class of 1987. Following high school, she pursued her passion of caring for others, by attending nursing school and becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1987 Melissa married Michael R. Blain. The Blain family made their home in Mangum, Oklahoma. This marriage would be blessed with three children, Michael, Matthew, and Miranda. Melissa had a passion for helping those in need, she did this in her career as a nurse but also personally, she never met a stranger and would drop whatever she was doing to assist someone in need. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Melissa also had a deep love for animals and was always feeding strays. She leaves a legacy of love and devotion to her friends, family, and animals.
Her grandparents, Bessie Brewster and J.A. Brewster, John W. Fraley; and her dog Precious, preceded her in death.
Left to honor her loving memory are her parents, Fred Brewster of Amarillo, Texas, and Kathy Gill of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Husband, Michael Ray Blain; Sons, Michael E. Blain and wife Britton of Grove, Oklahoma and Matthew Blain; Daughters, Miranda Blain of Mangum and Amber Blain of Altus; Brother, Richard Brewster and wife LeAnne of Lela, Oklahoma; Grandmother, Helen Fraley, of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Michaela, Jaelynn, Elizabeth, Clayton, Kingston, Camry, Lucas, Adelynn, Isaiah, Arbor Foxx and Ryder; As well as a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
