Jean as she is known by many family and friends, was born August 28, 1925 at Hollis/Russell Oklahoma, one of seven children of Richard and Susie Duncan. She lived a life fuller than most can imagine that began as a poor farm girl in the Great Depression. Jean loved the Lord and accepted him as her salvation her freshman year of high school while attending a revival with her best friend. She grew up and attended school in the area and on October 31, 1942 she crossed the state lines into Texas with the love of her life, John Gilford Olive, and was married by the Justice of the Peace. Upon returning back to Oklahoma the two newlyweds settled in to the Ladessa Community south of Mangum Okla. where they lived until they built their home in town in 1968. Jean Olive learned the ways of a tractor and would plow the fields and tend to cattle as her husband worked as the local postmaster by day. Her hobbies included square dancing, golf, gardening, sewing, crocheting, camping and playing games around the table with friends and family. Jean and her husband were able to create a loving Christian home and live life to the fullest surrounded by family, friends, travel and farming.
