Obituary for Virgie Rebecca Mercer
Mrs. Virgie Rebecca Mercer, age 89, pioneer resident of Eldorado, died Monday night at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services have been set for 4:00 P.M., Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Eldorado, officiated by the Reverend Elbert Shumaker. Burial will be in Eldorado Cemetery under direction of Lowell Funeral Home.

Born October 28th, 1883 in Ashland, MS, she was married in 1902 in the Pleasant Hill Community to the late Savil D. Mercer, coming to the Eldorado area a short time later. She was a member of the Eldorado Methodist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Ralph and Dick Mercer of Eldorado; two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Harvick of Altus and Mrs. Audean Huckabay of Eldorado; one sister in California; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Woody and Clarence Mercer preceded her in death.

The body will lie in state at Lowell Funeral Home in Altus until 5:00 P.M. today and then to Lowell-Richardson Memorial Chapel in Eldorado.
