Obituary for Ernest Jeff Bell
Ernest "Ernie" Jeff Bell, 58, a life-long resident of Hollis, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on July 13, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Ernie was born in Hollis, OK on November 14, 1963, to his parents, Melton Bell Sr. and Lillie (Crowder) Bell. He was raised in Hollis and graduated from Arnett High School in 1983. Ernie enlisted in the United States Army in 1984.
During his work career, Ernie was a Harmon County employee and served in several different capacities. He worked in the water department, served as a county animal control officer, and was also a firefighter for the county. On August 1, 2002, Ernie married the love of his life, Latisha Gutierrez, in Dodson, Texas. They were married for 20 or the 30 years they had shared together.
Away from work, Ernie enjoyed being outdoors. Fishing, hunting, and cooking were some of his favorite activities and he loved spending time with his family and friends. Ernie was a gentle giant he was a man of peace, honor, and respect but above all, he was about love. He enjoyed teaching others how to hunt and fish, how to clean and cook the land had provided them. Ernie had a contiguous smile that would light up any room. He loved his family with all his heart and soul.
Welcoming Ernie into Heaven's gates are his parents, Melton Sr. and Lillie Bell; his brother, Ro'Shawn Bell; and his sisters: Shirl Campbell, Mary Jane Bell, and Anne Lyons.
Left to cherish Ernie's great legacy and memory are his beloved wife, Leticia Bell; his son, Earnest Jeff Bell Jr.; his three daughters: DaKeisha Bell, Felisha Atkins, and Belinda Atkins; his bonus children, Alfredo Flores, Leon Flores, and Amanda Flores; three brothers: Allen Bell, Melton Bell Jr., and Charles Bell; four sisters: Janie Mae Land, Merlene Myers, Jesse Jewel Means, Karen Whitfield, and Maxine Bell; his grandchildren: Glendarius Atkins, Tiajah Atkins, Reality Atkins, Armani Atkins; Caiden Atkins; Da'Naveah Atkins; Acaih Bell; Malik Bell; Amelia Flores; Ricky Bell; Jayden Flores, Lucas Lawson, and Avery Lawson; his great-grandchildren: Cecilia Martinez, Julia Martinez, and Anthony Williams; adopted son, Tyshawn Hayes; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
