Obituary for Mary Helen Colchado
Mary Helen (Rangel) Colchado, 56, resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on October 19, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mary was born April 20, 1964, in Lubbock, Texas, to Domingo and Victoria (Perez) Rangel. The Rangel family moved to Hobart, Oklahoma, in the mid-70s. On May 2, 1979, Mary married Felipe Espinosa Martinez in Hobart, Oklahoma. This young marriage was blessed with four children, Michele, Felipe Jr., Crystal, and Florencio. In 1992, Felipe and Mary divorced. She married Juan Colchado on September 5, 1993, in Altus, Oklahoma. In 2013, Juan and Mary divorced. Even though these marriages ended in divorce, she walked thru these times with pride and always focusing on her children and grandchildren.
Mary worked at Plantation Village for over twenty years, working as a certified medicine aid. She had a strong work ethic and desire to always provide for four children. At times Mary would work two jobs to provide for her family. Mary was a caretaker in the workplace, taking great care of her patients in the nursing home, but she also took care of her family. Her family was the most important thing to her. She was a God-fearing Pentecostal woman who loved her Lord and savior with all her heart and soul. Mary enjoyed watching her team, the Dallas Cowboys, dancing, listening to her favorite artist Selena, playing cards, bingo, going to Mexican dances. Still, all these hobbies were always centered around being around her family.
She is survived by children, Michele Martinez, Felipe Martinez Jr., and wife Kristy, Crystal Hall and husband Bennie, Florencio Martinez, Mother, Victoria (Perez) Rangel; eight siblings Domingo Rangel and wife Lucy, Manuel Rangel, Johnnie Rangel and wife Mary, Diana Jackson, and husband Larry, Julie Rangel, Robert Rangel, Cecilia Carter and husband Len, Rebekah Rangel, and Johnnie Danner; Nineteen grandchildren, one great grand daughter; the father of her children, Felipe Espinosa Martinez, Sr. ; numerous nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly and treated as her own children.
