Obituary for Zachary James Cook
Zachary James Cook, 17, was given his wings and went into our God"s arms on November 8, 2009, at the Quartz Mountain Regional Airport. Zach went to fly for fun, but little did he or his family know he would receive his wings and take the longest flight of his life into Heaven!
Zach was born July 2, 1992, to Perry and Christa (Brewer) Cook in Wichita, Kansas. He is survived by his parents of Altus, Oklahoma; brother, Alex, 21, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two sisters, Madison, 11, and Macinzee, 6, of the home. He is also survived by grandparents Charlotte and James Robert Cook of Blackwell, Oklahoma; Pat and Charlie Brewer of Strawberry, Arizona; great-grandmother, Alma Favreau of Dodge City, Kansas; aunts and uncles, Sherry and Chad Lessert of Blackwell, Chuck and Jenean Brewer of Gilbert, Arizona, Clarke and Kisha Brewer of El Mirage, Arizona; five cousins, Clayton and Braydon Lessert of Blackwell, Carson, Carter, and Carly Brewer of El Mirage, Arizona. He is also survived by a host of friends, who were like family to mention a few: Jacob Wilson, Josh Adrian, Kale Westover, Lane Billarrial, Kelsey Allen"the list goes on. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Joseph Favreau, grandfather, Raymond Hall Cook, grandmother, Doris Margret Cook, great-grandparents, Bessie and Glenn Carson, Ernestine Young, and Charles Brewer.
Zach lived his early childhood in Tucson, Arizona, where he loved peewee sports and weekly zoo outings. He moved to Altus at the age of five, where he continued his love of sports. He attended Sunset Elementary K-5 and attended Altus Middle School for half of his 6th grade year. Before moving to Fairford, England, where he finished his 6th grade year at Croughton, England, he then attended 7th and 8th grades at London Central High School in High Wycombe, England. Zach returned to Altus, Oklahoma, and attended Altus High School for his 9th, 10th, and was currently enjoying his junior year.
While attending school in England, Zach was honored with many awards"a few honors including "Duke of Edinburgh Award" for leadership, "Honor Roll with Distinction", both 7th and 8th grades, and he was chosen for Jr. Leadership Seminar in Obermesel, Germany. He continued his love of sports while overseas and his favorites included tennis and wrestling both 7th and 8th grade years, which was held in Lakenheath, England. Zach was the UK Champion with an undefeated record. Upon his return to Altus, he continued sports and also pursued his love of art. He was presently involved with preparation of the "Winter Wonderland" Altus High School play.
Zach loved his family, his friends, and his God. He lived more in 17 years than most people do in a lifetime. He met every situation with humor and his big smile. He lit up the room when he walked in. Zach was optimistic and full of fun and jokes. He touched lives all around the world, and he will be greatly missed. His friends spread from England, Germany, China, Japan, and back home again. Zach was a big fan of Larry Fitzgerald and had helped his family give Larry a tour in England.
Zach believed that God had a plan for his life, and he was excited about his future. He loved cars and working on them with his dad, water sports, and spending time with his friends. Although he loved to make people laugh, he was also very caring and compassionate. Zach, we will meet you in the morning"we love you.

Memorial donations may be made to Chinese Children Adoption International, c/o Zachary Cook Project, 6920 South Holly Circle, Centennial, Colorado, 80112. Zach had a deep love for his sisters, both of whom are from China. He was present in China to welcome them as family.
