Wyndle E. "Bo" Duffer, age 78, of Mangum, passed away Sunday evening, September 20, 2009, at Grace Living Center, in Mangum.
Mr. Duffer was born in rural Greer County on October 6, 1930, to Wayne Spencer and Willie Kate (Raney) Duffer. Growing up on the farm, Bo began driving at an early age and drove the school bus route for the Hester area into Mangum. After graduating from Mangum High in 1948, Bo married Norma Joyce Sullivan, in Hester, on November 24, 1948. They continued living and farming in the Hester area until 1957, when they moved to Spade, Texas where they farmed until moving to Dumas, Texas in 1964, to own and operate a motel and Restaurant and the Chevrolet Dealership. After selling the motel and restaurant in the mid 1970"s, they continued running the dealership, with their son, until 1975. After moving back to Mangum, Bo farmed and ranched until his death.
Preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Wayne Duffer and three grandchildren, Nathan Wayne Duffer, David Matthew Duffer and Stephanie Michelle Duffer, he is survived by his wife of sixty years, Joyce, of the home in Mangum; two children, Ronald Duffer and wife Pam of Grapevine, Texas and Patsy Colson and husband Phil of Mangum; eight grandchildren, Coby Duffer and wife Angie, Drew Duffer, Jennifer Smeaton and husband Chris, Kelton Duffer, Melissa Henry and husband Lynn, Shane Colson, Chris Colson and wife Missy and Salah Deas and husband David; sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grand son; one sister, Wayna Lea Lee of Texarkana, Texas and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Bo Duffer will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at the Mangum First Baptist Church with Pastor Milton Gage officiating. Interment will follow at the Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday, from 6 until 7 p.m., at Greer Funeral Home in Mangum.
