Obituary for Winfred E. Underwood Sr.
Winfred E. "Woody" Underwood Sr., age 59, of Altus, Oklahoma was born September 22nd, 1936, in Manila, Arkansas, the son of the late Homer and Macie (Jackson) Underwood. He was a former Lawton resident, moving to Altus in 1975. Mr. Underwood passed away Friday, March 29th, 1996, in the Altus Air Force Base Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Memorial Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 1996, in the First Baptist Church
Chapel with Sonny Tims officiating. Mr. Underwood will be cremated with burial in the Altus City Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
On April 11, 1962, he and Marion Meister were united in marriage at Darmstadt, West Germany. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Viet Nam era. He retired in December of 1974 at the rank of Sergeant First Class. Later he was self-employed as a Mobile Home Mover. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Marion Underwood of the home; a daughter, Susan "Lucy" Underwood of Altus, OK; three brothers, Jerry Underwood of Leachville, AR, Homer Underwood, Jr. of Tacoma, WA and Freddie Boling of Manila, AR; five sisters, Carolyn Rayo of Phoenix, AZ, Joyce McGlothin of Pasadena, TX, Linda Kay Milligan of Mt. Home, AR, Phyllis Boling of Anna, IL and Melissa Bunch of Glendale, AZ.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Winfred E. "Luke" Underwood Jr. - 4-2-1996.
