Obituary for William "Bill" F. Phelan
William "Bill" Francis Phelan age, 77 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, 27, 1999 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born April 9, 1921 in Syracuse, New York to the late Patrick and Emily Lemoyne (Drodesky) Phelan. bill joined the United States Air Force in 1942. He was stationed at Chanute AFB Illinois, where he learned to fly Black widow Weather Planes from 1943 to 1945, stationed at Nome, Alaska to 1946 to 1948 and Boiling AFB to Washington, D.C. in 1948.

On August 6, 1948 to Fort Holabird, Maryland Bill and Mary Elizabeth Rogers were united in marriage.

Bill graduated first Class of Office of Special Investigation (OSI) in 1951. He was also stationed at Ft. Hamilton, Bermuda from 1951 to 1953 from 1953 to 1955 he was stationed at Phoenix, Arizona, where he was assigned to the First USAF United States Air Force Thunderbird Flight Demonstration Team at Luke Air Force Base Phoenix, Arizona. Bill was also stationed at St. Paul, Minnesota, Ft. Snelling) from 1955 to 1957, Ramey Air Force Base Puerto Rico from 1957 to 1960, Altus, Air Force Base Altus, Oklahoma from 1960 to 1964, High Wycombe Air Force Station, England from 1964 to 1966 and was transferred back to Altus Air Force Base, Altus, Oklahoma in July of 1966 where he retired.\\After his retirement from the United States Air Force bell worked as managing Editor for the Altus Times Newspaper. He also sold Life Insurance, and worked for the United States Postal Service and retired in 1070's.
