William Arthur Stevens, Jr.
William Stevens, Jr., age 72, longtime resident of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, April 17th, 2019 at the Veterans Medical Facility in Oklahoma City.
William was born in Hereford, Texas on May 17th, 1946 to his parents William Stevens, Sr and Edith Elizabeth (Martin) Stevens. William had four sisters; Shirley Mae Whitehead, JoAnn Roach, Ollie Olivia Wilcox and Hallie Keahey. When William was 16 years old he joined the National Guard and in 1964 he went on to the Army Infantry and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. William then went on to be a police officer in Mangum and Synder, Oklahoma. He also works as a security guard at Sparks Casino in Reno, Nevada. Most of his professional life he worked as a painter and carpenter.
On January 8th, 1966 William married Kay Capitola in Mangum, OK at the Trinity Baptist Church. William enjoyed fishing and collecting knick-knacks from his children and grandchildren. Papa as the grandchildren referred to him adored his grandchildren. The most important to William was family. He was a simple man.
William was preceded in death by his parents, William Stevens Sr and Edith Elizabeth Stevens; two sisters, Shirley Mae Whitehead and Ollie Olivia Wilcox; two grandchildren, Brian Matthew Stevens and Lalanna Corine Kay Acuna; and one great grandchild, baby Thompson.
He survived by his wife Kay Stevens, sons, William Arthur Stevens III, Scotty Andrew Stevens and wife Pahalamen, Kevin Michael Stevens and wife Jessica; daughters; Stacey Pearl Heradon and husband Tony, Robin, Ednabeth and husband Johnny Ray Musser and Bonnie Melinda Kay Thompson; two sisters; JoAnn Roach and Hallie Keahey; eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
