Graveside Services for Wilburn Southwick, age 88, of Altus, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 1998 at the Altus City Cemetery. Sonny Tims will officiate. Mr. Southwick passed away October 5th, 1998 at the local hospital. Mr. Southwick was born on October 30th, 1909 in Altus to Harman and Lillie (Glover) Southwick. Mr. Southwick married Peggy (Allen) Hayhurst on September 13, 1947 in Vern on, TX.
Mr. Southwick owned and operated the Sooner Food Mart from 1956 through 1984. Lowell Tims Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
Mr. Southwick was preceded in death by: his wife, Peggy Southwick in 1994; his parents, Harman and Lillie Southwick; and three sisters.
Survivors include: one daughter, Billie June Surles and husband George of Altus; four grandchildren, Amanda Henning of Geuda Springs, KS, Peggy Payne of Altus, George Surles of Camdenton, MI and Franklin Louis Surles of Altus; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Chisum of Altus; one niece, Elizabeth Ann; one nephew, David Tipton, and many other relatives and friends.
