Wilber Kay Madden, 58, formerly of Altus, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Comanche
County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. Everyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with Ms. Madden life was changed for the better. Her home going services will be Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Elder Bennie Alexander and Elder Dewayne Jones Officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Wilber Kay Madden was born October 3, 1951 in Altus to Eddie Wilbur and Betty Jean Madden. She attended Altus Public Schools and was a 1969 graduate of Altus High School. She graduated from Altus Junior College, Lawton Barber College, and received her LPN license from the LPN school at Burns Flat, Oklahoma.
Ms. Madden made her life"s work to take cane of others. She worked at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, and numerous health care facilities in the surrounding area. She received an on the job injury that disabled her in 2005. Her failing health required her to be admitted to Willow Park Care Center in Lawton, in November of 2007.
She was known by everyone as "Kay." Kay was a member of St. John Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her mother Betty Lampkin, grandmother Ruby Hill and Aunt Martha Paul.
Kay leaves to mourn her father Eddie Wilbur Madden of Lawton, Oklahoma; two brothers Larry D. Madden of Altus, Oklahoma; Steven S. Madden of Stringtown, Oklahoma; four nieces, Patrice Washington, Stephanie Madden, Star Curry, and Chrystal Miller; two nephews, Christopher Curry and Eric Madden. A host of other relatives and friends.
Burial will be at the Altus City Cemetery under the directions of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home .
