Obituary for Wayne Carlus Jones
Jones
Wayne (Bones) Jones, age 72, of Altus, passed away late Saturday evening,
May 19, 2007, at English Village Nursing Home.
Wayne was born on August 28, 1934, in rural Jackson County, to Fred and Maudie (Bradshaw) Jones. He attended and played ball at Friendship and later married Barbara Rollins on December 23, 1955, at Gould. They spent fifty-one wonderful years together before his death. "Bones" as he was most commonly known, began working for the City of Altus in 1965, and was a dedicated employee who could fix :anything: that dealt with electricity or a heating and air conditioning system. After serving the citizens of Altus for over thirty-two years, Bones retired in April of 1998. Working was his way of life, but he did take some time to enjoy fishing, hunting, and taxidermy. Fishing and being with people was one of greatest loves, besides being with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Don, Neal and Johnny, he is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of the home; one daughter, Natalie Wheeler and husband, Darris of Altus; one sister, Shirley Sanders of Franklin, Texas; two brothers, Larry Jones and wife Lou of Sandy, Oregon and Ronald Jones and wife Lavon of Augusta, Kansas; two sisters-in-law, Vera Bearden and Velma Smiley and husband Jack, both of Altus along with several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
