Obituary for Ward Perryman
Ward Perryman, age 97, of Duke, passed away August 24th, 2002 in the Mangum City Hospital.
Ward was a life time resident of Duke where he farmed.

Perry Ward Perryman was born August 2nd, 1905 at the Perryman Ranch near Duke, to parents Alonzo and Zenobia, pioneers of Greer and Jackson counties. He attended school at Duke and was a member of the 4-H Club. In 1929, he graduated from Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. After graduating with a degree in Animal Husbandry, he returned to Duke and expanded his farming and cattle operations. Mr. Perryman and Golda Miller of Duke were married November 18, 1934 in Duke.

He was also a founder and Chairman of the Jackson County Soil and Water Conservation District. In addition to taking the lead in the organization of the Jackson County Conservation District, he was active in the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts and the National Association of Conservation Districts. He served as the Area Director and Vice President of OACD and was President of this state organization in 1962 and 1963. He served as National Council Member of the NACD for five years and served on a number of commitees for NACD. He was an honorary member of the State FFA, the ASCS, Jackson County Farmers Union, Jackson County Farm Bureau and received the WKY Farmer Rancher of the month award in 1963. Ward was also a 33rd Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite at Guthrie and of India Shrine in Oklahoma City.

Mr. Perryman is survived by two children, daughter, Jane Clark and husband Robbie of Mangum and son, Jerry Perryman and wife Charlette of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Perry Clark of Mangum, Mark Clark of Albuquerque, NM, Mary Jean Davidson of Mangum, Nancy Estes of Olustee, Angela Perryman Parks of McKinney, TX and Tad Wesley Perryman of Farmers Branch, TX; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Golda in 1971; one infant son, Douglas Wayne and his parents, Alonzo and Zenobia; three brothers, Albert, Ed and Barney.
