SKINNER

Wanda McCarty Skinner, 85, of Oklahoma City, long-time Altus resident, died Wednesday, August 27, 2014, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Wanda was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Marietta, Oklahoma, to Olynn James and Frances Parker McCarty. She graduated from Ardmore High School and furthered her education at Mary Hardin-Baylor and OBU.

On July 29, 1948, Wanda married Harold Skinner, the love of her life, and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church, Altus for over 65 years, serving in many roles including teaching primary Sunday school. Wanda was also active in Garden Club, Beta Mother"s Club and Book Club. She was an avid reader, enjoyed china painting and traveling with her husband. Most of all, Wanda was a devoted wife, caring and loving mother and grandmother, who always put her family first and took great pride in all of their accomplishments.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Patricia Marshall. She is survived by her son, Robert Skinner and his wife, Terri, of Altus; a daughter, Frances Holman and husband, Jon, of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, Whittney Stauffer and husband Joey, of Tulsa; Grant Skinner and wife, Sommer, Zack Skinner and wife Angela, of Norman; Jason Holman and wife Jenni, of Tyler, Texas; Robert Holman and wife Jenny, of Fort Worth, Texas; Colin Holman and wife Erin, of Oklahoma City; Parker Holman and Charlis Raineki of Vancouver, BC; Hayley Principe and husband Jason, of Dallas, Texas; ten great-grandchildren, Meryl and Sam Stauffer, Savannah Skinner and Lizzie, Caroline, Grant, Henry, Edward, George, and Larkin Holman; sister-and brother-in-law, Lanita and Guy Southall of Altus; brother-in-law Dr. Neil Marshall of Longview, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Altus on Tuesday, September 2 at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Altus First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer"s Association.
