Obituary for Walter Jesse Jones
Walter "Walt" Jesse Jones, age 85 of Altus, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at Plantation Village Care Center in Altus.

Walt was born July 28, 1919, in Kansas City, Kansas to Herman Henry and Flora (Harris) Jones. Walt married Georgia Pearl Smith in Clinton, Missouri on April 26, 1040. Married for sixty-five years. Walt and Georgia moved to Altus in 1997 from Missouri.

Mr. Jones was a member of the Altus Church of God, having been saved and baptized in 1950, in Nashville, Tennessee. Walt loved the Lord and served Him and served Him for fifty-five years until his death.

Walt was a member of the Musician's Union of Kansas City, Missouri and loved singing and playing his guitar. A mechanic and maintenance moan by trade, he was a farmer at heart. Known as a man of many talents, Walt fixed about anything.


singing and playing Gospel Music all over Missouri were two of the things that Walt and Georgia enjoyed doing together. they played and sang at nursing homes, retirement centers and for various organizations as time would allow.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandchild. He is survived by his wife, Georgia, of the home; one daughter, Evelyn Evan of Brighton, Missouri; two sons, Leon Jones and his wife Carolyn of Altus, Oklahoma and Cleon Jones of Lees Summit, Missouri; three sisters, Marjorie Smith of Springfield, Missouri, Mildred Moore of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Edna Wyatt of Wellsville, Kansas; one brother, Clide Jones and wife Bonnie of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Walter Jesse Jones will be Saturday, July 23, 200r at 10 am at Lowell-Tims funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Greg Hatchett officiating.

interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

A visitation for friends of Walt Jones will be held at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 7 pm until 8:30 pm Friday, July 22, 2005.
