Obituary for Waite F. Plato
Waite F. Plato, age 84 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Monday February 18, 2008 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 26, 1923 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to Margaret (Bowles) Plato and William Ward Plato.
On October 13, 1956 in Bennettsville, South Carolina, Waite and Janet Felberg were united in marriage.
Waite joined the Army Air Corp early in his military career and later became a member of the United States Air Force where he proudly served for twenty-six years which included serving during World War II.
He owned and operated Scotty's Service Station in Altus for several years and worked for Martin's Ace Hardware in Altus. When he wasn't busy at work he enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, DAV and the American Legion.
He is lovingly survived by his wife Janet of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; four children, Vera Foster and husband Jim of Pleasant Hill, California, Jean Rayburn and husband William of Seattle, Washington, Scott Plato of Altus, Oklahoma and Jill Davidson also of Altus, Oklahoma. HE is also survived by one sister Mary Madden of Fayetteville, North Carolina; four grandsons, Mason Foster, Jonathan Foster, Joey Partain, Justin Davidson; one granddaughter, Brittany Harris; one great-grandson, William Foster and special friend Ray Davidson of Altus, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Memorial Service for Waite Plato is scheduled for Friday, February 22, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the directions of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
