Obituary for W.B. Nell, Jr. (Dub)
W.B. Nell, Jr. (Dub) was born in the TeaCross Community, Oklahoma on April 5, 1928. He passed away in Hollis, Oklahoma on April 12, 2022. He was a devoted Christian and a member of the Church of Christ.

After graduating from Ron High School, Dub attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, before being called to serve his country in Korea.

In 1950 Dub, his brother Warren (Scooter) and other Harmon County young men became proud members of the 45th Infantry Division Company D Combat Engineers. These soldiers took up mines, built airstrips and bridges on the front lines. He was honored to serve in the United States Army.

Upon returning home to the U.S. he graduated from college. Dub embarked on a farming and ranching operation, married Therol Motley on Thanksgiving Day in 1954 and raised and educated three children.

Upon semi-retiring from farming and ranching, Dub became involved in banking where he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Great Plains Bank for 25 years.
He loved meeting people from all walks of life and being involved in banking afforded him this opportunity.

Daughter-in-law Malisa writes “If we had a bumper sticker for Dub it would read in big bold letters "TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN" but then in slightly smaller type beneath would read "And everyone else who needs help, too!"

Survivors include his children Susan Collier Conner (Richard) of Augusta, Arkansas, Myra Kuchel (Steve) of Tulsa, and Steven Nell (Malisa) of Tulsa; his ten grandchildren, Winston Collier (Gentry), Stuart Collier (Sarah Boyce), Alex Collier (Katy), Andrew Kuchel, Jeff Kuchel, Forrest Nell (Cori), Emma Nell, Stefani Nell, Sara Nell, and Natalie Nell; his great grandchildren Vivian, Corinne, Mary Motley and Win Collier, Presley and Estelle Collier, Avery and Liza Collier and Riley Nell; his sister Wanda Faye Williams of Hollis and his brother G. Q. Nell (Donna) of Lubbock, Texas; his sister in law Marsha Dickinson (Dave) of Urbana, Illinois; his son in law Dr. Steve Collier of Augusta, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom Dub shared his kindness and endless generosity.
Preceded in death by his parents Bryan and Crystal Nell; his in laws Verna and Forrest Motley; his wife of 60 years Therol Motley Nell, sisters Sybil and Gene Francis, Wilma Jean and Roland Kromer, Geraldine and Floyd Carrick; brother Warren (Scooter) and Shirley Nell; brother in law Norman Williams.
We are eternally grateful for the companionship shown by his devoted caretaker and friend Edward Rogers.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at Colonial Manor II who took great care of Dub and loved him for two and half years.
Memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Manor II at P.O. Box 746, Hollis, OK 73550, or the Hollis Church of Christ, 1215 N 7th St, Hollis, OK 73550.
