Violet Cole Meason passed from this life to her heavenly home on Friday evening, October 7, 2011.
Violet was born December 6, 1917, to her parents, Clark and Grace (McCrady) Cole. Five years later she was joined by a younger sister, Viola. Violet grew up on the family farm and attended school at Wildcat and graduated from Reed High School.
Violet and Cecil (Duck) Meason were united in marriage on December 25, 1938, by Rev. Oscar Brewer. They lived and farmed in the Wildcat Community. They were active members of the Russell Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Mangum. Violet taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School during her memberships at these churches. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and studying the Bible.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Meason; her father and mother, Clark and Grace Cole. Violet is survived by three children, Cecillia Brewer and her husband, Duane, of Dalhart, Texas; Doyce Wilhelm and her husband, Leland, of Trophy Club, Texas; and David Meason and his wife, Gay of Duke, Oklahoma. Also surviving are her five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. These include: Dwight and Pam Wilhelm and their sons, Austin, Tyler, and Trenton of Wheaton, Illinois; Kyle and Stevie Brewer, and their children, Kylie, Alexander and Rhiannon of Dalhart, Texas; Heather Fixsen, her children, Ashley and Zane and her grandson, Gage, all of Amarillo, Texas; Aaron and Jerilyn Brewer and their daughter, Brianne of Amarillo, Texas; and Lindsey and Charlie Dollins and their children, Braden and Braylee Violet of Duke, Oklahoma. Violet is also survived by one sister, Viola Moseley of Midwest City, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Naomi Cook of Plano, Texas, and by several other loving relatives and friends.
Violet was a resident at Grace Living Center for over two years. The family deeply appreciates the very loving, compassionate, professional care and support that Violet and her family members received from the staff at Grace Living Center and the Jackson County Hospice.
Services for Violet will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, Mangum, Oklahoma, with Casey Paxton officiating. Interment will follow at the Russell Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home on Monday, October 10, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m.
