Obituary for Victor G. Linares
Victor G. Linares, age 86 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at his home in Altus.
Victor was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on December 23, 1932 to his parents Jesus Manuel Linares and Margarita Gonzalez Linares. He grew up and went to grade school in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico and earned his GED through the North American High School. On May 15, 1954 Victor married the love of his life Maria S. Linares in Altus and they have enjoyed over 65 years of marriage together. As a young family they settled in Martha, Oklahoma and then moved Altus, Oklahoma in 1986. Victor worked the land in farm labor from 1946 through 1984 and he worked in construction until he retired in 1994. Throughout his life Victor was of the Catholic Faith and was a longtime member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus. Victor enjoyed playing card games and billiards with family and friends and he enjoyed helping other people with "handyman" projects anytime that he could. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family or anyone in need. He had a passion for dogs and was known to have the "dog whisperer" touch. But most of all Victor loved his family and friends and he treasured the precious time that he could spend with all of them. It was in his nature to tell jokes especially to rib on another person, the more he joked with you the more he cared about the person.
