Obituary for Verma Joyce Bridges
Verma Joyce Bridges, 87, longtime resident of Eldorado, Oklahoma passed away on September 4, 2019 in Crowell, Texas.
Verma was a leap year baby born on February 29, 1932 to Fred and Mary Humphreys. On May 27, 1950 Verma married the love of her life J.W. Bridges in Childress, Texas. Verma and J.W. spent sixty five years together working side by side and raising their family. She graduated High school from Arnett High School in 1951. After J.W. returned from serving in the United States Army they made their home in Eldorado, Oklahoma. In 1951 the Bridges began a custom harvesting business and continued traveling until 2005. After 2005, they cut crops around Eldorado, Oklahoma until 2013. She was a long time member of the Eldorado Church of Christ. Verma was a hard working lady who loved puzzles, dominoes, butterflies, but most of all she loved her family. She was a sweet woman who always took care of her family. No matter how busy she was she always made time for her grandchildren and treasured every moment she had with them. Verma was known for her amazing cooking, she brought supper and dinner every day to J.W. and the farm hands that was working with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Mary Humphreys , son Larry James Bridges; grand daughter Robin Kay Bridges, daughter in law Jo Bridges, Brothers; Rex Humphreys , Flake Humphreys, Sister; Wilma Humphreys Tice.
Verma is survived by her two sons, Jerry Bridges of Clyde, Texas, Don Bridges and wife Lana of Eldorado, Oklahoma, Five grandchildren, Tracy Foller, Tonya Huntley, Michael Bridges, Landon Bridges, Kaylor Bridges. three great grandchildren Jordan Foller, Jadyn Huntley, and Tucker Huntley, two great great grandchildren Piper Jo Tobey, Kayden Nunnelee, Brother Jimmy and Nettie Humphreys, Sister Wanda Cunningham, sister in law Phyllis Humphreys, and Numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tipton Boy's Home or the Charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be 10:00 A.M. , Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Eldorado Cemetery, Eldorado, Oklahoma.
