Obituary for Vena Hynum
Vena "Jackie" Hynum, age 83, of Eldorado, Oklahoma, died at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital on Friday.

Graveside services are scheduled for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Eldorado Cemetery officiated by Rev. Ken Coleman. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

Born March 2, 1908 at Osklalusa, Iowa; she was a daughter of Edwin and Anna Amelda Smith. She moved to Eldorado with her husband J.B. Hynum and published the first edition of the Eldorado Courier Newspaper November 1, 1955. They were editors and publishers of the Courier and the Olustee Chieftain until 1989 when they retired after 33 years of service to those communities.

Survivors include: a daughter, Alberta Evans of Reno, NV; two brothers, Earl Smith of Florida and Kenneth Smith of Yuba City, CA; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, J.B. Hynum (1989)
