Obituary for Trula Mae Hayes
Trula Mae Hayes, age 82, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, October 10,2002, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

Trula was born January 13, 1920, at Altus, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of B. B. and Edna (Briscoe) Voorhies. She grew up in the Altus area and was a graduate of Altus High School. On February 12, 1939, in Altus, Trula and Woodrow J. Hayes were united in marriage. Woodrow worked as a civil engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation and the family moved throughout the Southwest United States, eventually settling in Arvada, Colorado in the early 1960's where they remained until returning to Altus in 1990.

Trula was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Arvada, Colorado. Her outgoing personality made her an excellent representative for Avon Cosmetics for over eighteen years.

Trula was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1945; her parents; three brothers; one sister; and one grandson.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Woodrow J. Hayes of Altus, Oklahoma; one daughter, Janet Couillard and her husband Dick of Ashland, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Shelley Haskett and her husband Kevin of Omaha, Nebraska and Jason Merkel of Lincoln, Nebraska; two great-grandchildren, Haley and Paige Haskett; nephew, Paul and Evelyn Long of Altus, Oklahoma, their daughter, Shearl Davis and her children, Crystal and Mickey.
