Obituary for Tommie G. Messner
Tommie Messner, age 72, of Mangum, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 9, 2011, at her residence, in Mangum.
Ms. Messner was born in Greer County on July 21, 1939, to Thomas and Suzie Irene (Lanford) Willoughby. Growing up in Mangum, she later moved to New Jersey for sixteen years before returning to Mangum where she lived until her death. Tommie enjoyed doing arts and crafts, sewing, cooking, painting, crocheting and going to yard sales, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Reese Stubbs and a brother, Butch Willoughby, she is survived by five children, Thomas Messner and wife Shannon of Mangum, Barbara Messner-Criss of Mangum and husband Harold Criss of Ft. Worth, Texas, Ronald Messner and wife Liz of Manchester, New Hampshire, Stephen Messner and wife Lillian of Danvers, Massachusetts and Rusty Wikked and wife Aleisha of Arlington, Texas; four sisters, Elouise Chambless of Mangum, Ann Milner of Checotah, Oklahoma, Jo Yarbrough of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Emma Allen and husband Carl of Mangum; three brothers, Robert Higginbotham and wife Millie of Texas, John Higginbotham of Olustee and Ray Higginbotham of Orange, Texas; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Tommie Messner will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2011, at the Church of New Beginnings with Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating. Services are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
