Obituary for Thomas Rae Caldwell
Thomas Rae Caldwell Jr., 60, resident of Paris, Texas formerly of Altus, Oklahoma passed away November 22, 2021 in Paris, Texas.
Thomas was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on June 13, 1961 to his parents, Thomas R. Caldwell Sr. and Barbara Jean Caldwell. He was a member of the Altus High School graduating class of 1979. Thomas married Susan Dee Talley the following year in 1980 in Altus. Their 41-year union was blessed with two childen: a son, Thomas R. Caldwell III and a daughter, Taylor Renee’ Caldwell.
Thomas spent time in Lake Charles, LA; Arkansas City, KS; Pampa, TX; Altus, OK; and Powderly, TX. He was employed by several major retailers including, TG&Y, Otasco, Firestone, and Bates Motor Company. He dedicated 28 years of service to the Anthony’s - Stage Stores Inc., where he worked as a store manager and district manager. Thomas retired from the retail arena and ventured into broadcasting and commentating in 2017 with East Texas Radio. He worked there up until his passing.
Outside of work, Thomas enjoyed building race cars, racing, golfing and working with the Paris Community Theater. He was also an active member of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Relay for Life organizations.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Caldwell Sr.; and one brother, Kevin Caldwell.
He leaves to cherish his fond memory, his mother, Barbara Jean Caldwell; his wife, Susan Caldwell; his son, Thomas R. Caldwell III; his daughter, Taylor Renee Caldwell; his sisters: Carol Buchanan and her husband, Joe; and Kathy Holder and her husband, Mark; a brother-in-law, Bennett Talley and wife, Cassie-Lynn; several nieces and nephews: Lindsey Stehr Bolton; Jake Buchanan (Shelbi); Joe Buchanan; Haley Holder Pannel (Brent); Harrison Holder; Tatum Morgan; Ashley Caldwell Tobey Talley; Tanner Talley; Logan Talley Tara Talley; Chloe Talley; and Jason Talley; his great-niece: Hadley Sage Pannel; great nephew, Noah Barnett; as well as numerous other relatives and many friends.
The Caldwell family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, Oklahoma with Pastor Doug Altom officiating.
