DRONE
Thomas Drone, age 80, of Mangum, passed away late Sunday evening, June 26, 2011, at Quartz Mountain Medical Center, in Mangum.
Mr. Drone was born on March 29, 1931, in Keewatin, Minnesota to Thomas J. and Gladys (Alddrich) Drone. After graduating from high school he joined the United States Navy where he spent six years. On December 31, 1959, he married Bobbie Shelton and they spent the next fifty-one wonderful years together before his death. After his Navy tour of duty, he joined the United States Air Force, retiring on January 31, 1970, with twenty years service to his country. Shortly thereafter, Thomas began working for Civil Service at Altus Air Force Base, retiring in 1983. After living in Texas, they moved to Mangum in 1991, where he lived until his death. Making crafts, out of beads, Thomas and Bobbie enjoyed attending craft shows and being with their family.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived his wife, Bobbie, of the home; five children, Joe Drone and wife Jackie of Elmer, Timothy Drone and wife Lori of Anna Texas, David Drone and wife Meri of Altus, Oklahoma, Daniel Drone and wife Karen of Roanoke, Texas and Deborah Edwards and husband Joe of Center, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Thomas Drone will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Vernon, Texas, located at 2700 Montgomery Street.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
