Obituary for Sybil "Mimi" Rippetoe
Sybil "Mimi" Rippetoe, 103 Years, Eleven Months, and Two Days, a longtime Hollis, Oklahoma resident, passed away, Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Hollis
Sybil was born in Alida, New Mexico on July 30, 1917 to her parents Morris and Willie (Wynn) Newman. As a child Sybil and family moved several times and settled in Hollis. On May 16, 1935 Sybil married the love of her life Milton Rippetoe at their pastor's home and they enjoyed nearly sixty years of marriage together before Milton's death in 1995. Sybil owned and operated her beauty shop for several years and she enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. One of the greatest joys in life that Sybil always treasured was spending time with all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren and she was very proud to be their "Mimi".
Preceded in death by her husband Milton Rippetoe; her parents Morris and Willie Newman; her son, Rick Rippetoe; an infant brother; two brothers; Kenny Newman and Ed Newman; her sister, Marie Rippetoe; two grandchildren, Cherish Rippetoe; and Becky Rippetoe; and her son-in-law, Joey Shelby.
Sybil is survived by five children, Wilcey Rippetoe and wife Rochelle of Hollis; Gary Rippetoe and wife Patti of Hollis; Tony Rippetoe and wife DeeAnn of Waukomis, Oklahoma; Rodney Rippetoe and wife Lavon of Hollis; and Sybil's only daughter, Barbara Shelby of Hollis; sixteen grandchildren, Marty, Todd, and Perry; Mitzi, Brad, and Michelle; Craig, Cindy, and Cristi; Kelly and Angie; Toby and Kaci; Ryan, Cody, and Elecia; numerous great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel in Hollis with Pastor Glenn Alley officiating
Private burial will take place at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis, Oklahoma.
