Obituary for Dwain Lee Dean
Sonny Dean, 82, a longtime resident of Humphreys and Altus, Oklahoma, passed away at his home Friday, September 20th, 2019 in Altus.
Sonny was born in Humphreys, Oklahoma on January 30, 1937 to his parents Bonnie Dean and Opal (Haygood) Dean. Sonny was a lifelong resident of Humphreys and Altus and went to the University of Oklahoma where he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting. On November 22, 1984 he married Virginia "Ginny" Dean in Altus and they have enjoyed over 34 years of marriage together. He was a longtime member of the Southside Baptist Church in Altus and was a member of the Humphreys Coop. Sonny loved farming his land, long early morning walks at Walmart, and he truly loved delivering Meals on Wheels. Sonny was a generous, kind and loving Christian man and he was a loving husband, father and Papa, and he will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by his parents; Bonnie Dean and Opal (Haygood) Dean, wife, Judith Ann (Tigert) Dean; and his brother-in-law, Lamont Veatch; Sonny is survived by his wife Ginny Dean of the home; two sons, Brad Lee Dean; and Jimmy Taff and wife Pam; three daughters, Bridgette Michelle Wheatley and special friend, Chris Floyd; Cindy Taff; and Christy Kendrix and husband Randy; his sister Jean Veatch; seven grandchildren, Bethany Tackett, Tyler Tackett and his wife Emily; Jantz Kendrix; Caitlin Taff, Morgan Taff and fiance Kylar McKinley, and Will Kendrix; great grandchildren, Wyatt Tackett, Emmett Tackett and soon to be born, Lydia Tackett; nieces, Cheryl Booher and her husband Davy; great niece, Amanda Lindsey and her son, Rylann; as well as numerous other family members and many friends.
The Dean family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel in Altus with interment following service at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
Memorials may be made to the Meals on Wheels of Altus or to the Southside Baptist Church of Altus in memory of Sonny Dean.
