Sherry Dawn Craft of Mangum passed away at the age of 69 on September 3, 2013 after a courageous 8 month battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her husband, two children, grandchildren and twin sister.
Sherry was born August 13th 1944 in Oklahoma City to Bernice Downs and Warner Savage. Sherry and her twin sister Sharon were raised in Granite by Estelle Hammond, and the Locklear and Savage family. She lived in Tulsa and Amarillo but then returned to Mangum. Sherry was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a kind and gentle spirit with a soft heart for others and had a great many good friends.
She married Harold Craft in May of 1989 and they made their home in Mangum. Harold was the general manager of Mangum Oil and Gas prior to his retirement and Sherry was a home maker. She enjoyed her flowers, and being with her children, grandchildren, brother and sister. She was very active in the kitchen with always something cooking or baking. She held the blue ribbon for her chili as did her mother before her. She could bake the best lemon and chocolate pie you ever put in your mouth. She strived to be a good Christian. She loved to read the word and to listen to the old and new gospel music and would often call others and discuss different verses of the bible to better understand them.
She kept her faith until the very end. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and her two children shared that special bond with their mother. She was a proud mom and grandmother. In addition, she was very proud of her daughter in-law Candy and her son in-law Jamie and always knew her son and daughter were lucky to have them and told others often how special they both were. Sherry and her twin sister were very close also and they shared a special bond and love for one another that many may not understand. We all share the same thought that she is now with her Savior and she has no more suffering or pain to endure, her eyes are once again full of happiness.
Preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Nick and Mike "Butch" Savage and her sister Sandra Wix. she is survived by her husband Harold Craft of the home, a son Anthony Shawn Johnson and wife Candy of Mangum, and daughter Twala Dawn Bardwell and husband Jamie of Cordell Oklahoma, a twin sister Sharon Flynn and husband Mike of Mangum, a brother Jerry Savage and wife Debbie of Desert Hot Springs California, five grandchildren Danielle and Amanda Johnson of Mangum, Trista Rasmussin and husband Shane of Cordell, Tera Vela and husband Martin of Cordell, Jaden Bardwell of Cordell, 5 great grandchildren, Kilie, Isaac and Gracie Rasmussen, and Aubrey and JacobVela all of Cordell, 2 nieces Leona (Bunny) Wix of Durant Oklahoma and Amanda Davis of Brownfield and nephew David Davis of Mangum.
She will be missed by so many that knew her and there will be a lot of us that will remember her as an angel here on earth.
Funeral services for Sherry Dawn Craft will be held on Friday September 6, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Mangum Oklahoma. The family will be having a visitation at Greer Funeral Home on Thursday, September 5, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
