Obituary for Sherman Mack Swaffar
Sherman Mack Swaffar, age 88, of Altus passed away Sunday, July 6, 1997 in Altus. Sherman was born February 1, 1909, in Atoka, Oklahoma to the late John Washington and Etta Victoria (Bever) Swaffar/ He and Jessie Beaty were united in marriage on November 4, 1929 in Altus, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death April 4, 1994.

They farmed in Hollis until World War Ii, where he began a career with the Air Craft Industry until 1949. In 1950 he went to work for Phillips Petroleum co. in Borger, Texas where he retired 1974.
Sherman had been a resident of Altus since 1991. He was a member of the Duffua Baptist Church in Duffau, Texas, a member f the Masonic Lodge in Chalk Mountain, Texas.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 9, 1997 at 11:00am in the Lowell-Tims funeral Home Chapel with Dr. W.N. Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Survivors include children; Clifford Donal Swaffar and Billie of Conroe, Texas, brother Walter Swaffar of Lone Oak, Texas; grandchildren, Donna Gayle, William Sherman April Elaine; three great-grandchildren Lauren Ruth, Sarah Ann, Desire' Jordan; sister-in-laws Alice Fox of Altus, Oklahoma; Lois k\Kirby of Lytel, Texas.

Preceded in death by parents, wife; Jessie Lucille Swaffar, April 4, 1994 11 brothers and sisters.
