Walter Randal “Scotty” Ganaway, 53, a resident of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away on April 23, 2026, in Oklahoma City after a brief illness.
Scotty was born on March 21, 1973, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Walter Ganaway Jr. and Bertha (Hendricks) Spencer. He attended school in Mangum and spent most of his life in the community he loved.
Scotty worked as a housekeeping supervisor at the Mangum Nursing Home before later working as a forklift driver at the Mangum Brick Plant. He took pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way.
On February 26, 2021, Scotty married Karey Phillips Ganaway in Lawton, Oklahoma. The two shared several wonderful years, enjoying time with one another and with their grandchildren.
In his younger years, Scotty enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball. He loved fishing and being surrounded by his family. Being a “PawPaw” was one of his greatest joys—he absolutely adored his grandbabies. His daughter Sidney was the apple of his eye. Scotty was the life of any gathering, always joking, teasing, and keeping everyone laughing. He had a bold sense of humor and spoke his mind, but it always came from a place of love. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Ganaway Jr., and his brother, Timothy John Ganaway.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Karey Ganaway; his mother, Bertha Spencer, and stepfather, Charles Spencer; his daughters, Sidney Ganaway, Kamryn Dorsey and husband Jarmal, and Jada Green; his brothers, William “Bug” Hendricks, CJ Spencer, Derrick Garrett, Ralph Davis, and Walter Ford; his sister, Patrice Ganaway; his grandchildren, Kenlee Johnson, Kehlani Dorsey, Kaydence Dorsey, and Easton Green; a special niece, Daelynne Ganaway; as well as a host of aunts, cousins, and friends.
