Scarlett Newcomb, age 47, of Mangum, passed away Monday afternoon, September 3, 2012, at Quartz Mountain Medical Center, in Mangum.
Mrs. Newcomb was born at Travis Air Force Base, California on December 5, 1964, to LeRoy and Connie (Richards) Gibson. Moving to Altus Air Force Base, she met Raymond Thomas Anthony (Tony) Newcomb on April 1, 1983 at the Altus Skating Rink and they were married a short time later, on August 27, 1983. Scarlett worked three years at Grace Day Preschool before they moved to Tulsa where she worked at Springer Clinic as a Registered Medical Assistant. In 2002, they moved to Mangum to be near Tony"s family where she resided until her death. Collecting knives, listening to music and collecting old 45 and 33 rpm records were her favorite pastimes.
Preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Donna Maxwell; her father-in-law Larry Newcomb and two younger siblings, Delton Lee Gibson and Lisa Elaine Gibson, she is survived by her husband Tony, of the home; two children, Darren Newcomb and wife Jennifer of Ft. Hood, Texas and Autumn McLelland and husband Zach of Olustee; her mother, Connie Rice and husband Leo of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her father LeRoy Gibson and wife Pam of Lake Carl Blackwell, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Shane Newcomb, Dawson Newcomb, Ariel Newcomb, Drake Diaz and David Moody IV; one brother, Todd Stayton and wife Susan of Broken Arrow; four sisters, Cher Morgan of Mangum, Cathy Brooks of Blair, Joann Roblez of Weatherford, Texas and Julie Kovar of Amarillo, Texas along with many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Scarlett Newcomb will be at 3 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Mangum First Baptist Church with Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating. Services are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
