Obituary for Ruth T. Carmelli
Ruth T. Carmelli, age 74, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, January 17th, 2002 in Altus. She was born on August 22nd, 1926 in Cozad, Nebraska to Virgil Lloyd and Ida Pearl (Fletcher) Griffis. She has been a resident of Altus for the last seventeen years.
Ruth worked for many years as a Waitress was also a wonderful artist. She enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles and her pets.
She is survived by her mother, Ida Pearl Fletcher of Nebraska; two brothers, Walter Griffis of Altus, Oklahoma and Albert Griffis of Nebraska; five sisters, Eva Kraft, Mary Weber, Linda Downs, and Ruth Helfbeine, all of Nebraska and Bobbie Kessler of Alaska. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and her Trinity nurses.
She is preceded in death by her father; one sister, Buellah Marie Griffis; one brother, Frank Ray Griffis; nephew, Frank Ray Griffis, Jr.
Private graveside services were held Friday, January 18, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Altus City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Hospice in Elk City, Oklahoma in memory of Ruth T. Carmelli.
