Rodney Allen Smith, age 45, of Mangum, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Epic Medical Center in Eufaula, Oklahoma after a short illness.
Rod was born on November 7, 1965, in Mangum, to James Amos and Janie Lou (Thompson) Smith. After graduating from Mangum High School in 1984, Rod began working in the construction field as a carpenter and continued that trade until his untimely death. Rod was a friend to everyone and loved spending his spare time fishing. He was also an avid Oklahoma University sports fan.
Preceded in death by his grandparents and parents, he is survived by two brothers, James L. Smith and wife Kim of Yukon and Randy Smith and wife Sherri of Vicksburg, Mississippi; three nephews, Craig Smith, Brody Smith and Cole Smith; two nieces, Megan Smith and Lynsey Smith along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many special friends.
Memorial services for Rod Smith will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at the Mangum First Baptist Church with Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
