Obituary for Robert Lee Coe
Robert Lee "Doc" Coe, 93, formerly of Altus, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Doc was born May 30, 1918, in Winters, Texas, to Thomas Marion and Audia Maybelle (Copeland) Coe. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Doc had lived most of his life in Oklahoma and was a truck driver for many years. Although he had no children, he treated his nieces and nephews as though they were his own. Due to failing health, Doc resided at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Lawton for the past five years.
Preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters, Doc is survived by his sister, Jeanette Sirmons and husband David of Michigan; niece, Fran Branch of Catawba, South Carolina; nephew, Howard Cole and wife Maria of Gould, Oklahoma, and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends and care givers in the VA Center in Lawton.
Graveside Services for Doc Coe will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, 2648 NE Jake Dunn Road, Elgin, Oklahoma, with Reverend Ralph Peery officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
