Obituary for Robert Howard Hinton
Robert Howard Hinton, born April 17th, 1931, died October 7, 1996. He was born in Altus, Oklahoma to Walter and Oletha (Anderson) Hinton.
He attended Altus Schools, graduating in 1949. He attended OSU and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture in 1954. He and Donna Milburn were united in marriage on September 17, 1960 at University Place Christian Church in Enid, OK. He was associated with his father at George C. Wright Lumber Company for many years; then operated Hinton Co. with rentals and property management.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Elks Club, OSU Alumnae organization and American Legion. He served as Past President of the Kiwanis Club, Altus Alumnae Association, Altus Jaycees, Great Plains Country and Oklahoma Tourism Association. He was an ardent supporter of the state tourism effort and served eight years on the Oklahoma Tourism Commission.
He was a lifelong member of the Altus First Christian Church serving as an Elder and Board Chairman several times.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Donna; son, Howard M. Hinton; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Devin Graves; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and John Julian of Howe, TX; Aunt Mary Ruth Schoonover of Snyder; cousin, Vic Schoonover.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 10, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church with Rev. Dave Brummett officiating. Burial will follow at Altus City Cemetery.
