CMSGT Retired Robert Dale Smith, 93, passed from this life to his Heavenly Home on March 18, 2015 at 1:30 PM at his home surrounded by family, many friends.

Robert was born on September 15, 1921 in Augusta, KS to Edward B Smith and Hulda E Braudt. His family moved to a farm in Wheeler, Texas with Robert, one sister Corine, four brothers, Arthur, Eugene, Edward and William all of which preceded Robert in death.
Robert left the Family farm at the age of 20 to serve his country in the Army Air Core in 1941, eventually transferring to the regular Army. During his service to his county he served in World War II as a Paratrooper, Korea and Vietnam . Completing his 31 year of service in the Air Force, Robert retired at Altus Air Force Base 1973. Robert achievements included may awards and commendation. On Dec 7, 1946 Robert married Bettye Francis Sisemore in San Antonio, TX. He traveled to many military bases eventually settling in Altus in 1967. Robert and Bettye were married 44 years until her untimely death Oct. 23, 1990. Too them were born two Daughters, Robin Dale and Tina J.

In 1971, Robert proudly completed his Masonic Degrees. Robert was a Master Mason for 44 years. He served Worshipful Master twice, 1996 and 2004 Altus Lodge 62. He was Lodge Secretary for 17 years. Robert was a Perpetual member of Altus Lodge 62, Perpetual Member of the Guthrie Scottish Rite Bodies, Perpetual Member of the Altus and Elk City York Rite Bodies. In 2012, Robert was Bestowed the Masonic Medal of Honor--The highest honor bestowed on a Mason. Robert also served on the Grand Committee for 9 years. Robert cherished his work with the Masonic Lodge.

Robert was a Member of the First Christian Church his entire life, attending the Altus First Christian Church until his health declined. February 9, 2004 Robert married Sally Prince. They were married 11 years and resided in Altus.

Robert was survived by his wife Sally of the home, two daughter’s Robin Jones and Husband John of Blair and Tina Bryant, Altus. One Son Clayton Brummett and wife JeLange, Ft. Worth three grandson’s Robbie Bryant, Cibilo, TX, Whitney Woodward and wife Carmen, Altus, Blake Brummett, Ft. Worth. Four granddaughters Shauna Carver , Portland , TX., Marci Beck, Moore, Ok., Ashley and Emily Brummett, Ft. Worth, seven great grandchildren Tyler Woodward, Whitney Woodward, Alena Newland, Chynna and Brittney Crow, DJ Salinas and Corey Beck. Robert was Loved and Survived by many Nieces and Nephews. Everyone he met loved him. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims on Saturday from 6 until 7 p.m.

Funeral services for Robert Smith will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Laws and Rev. Mark Morey officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
