Obituary for Ricky Dowayne Thompkins
Ricky Dowayne Thompkins was born on November 1, 1963 to Aletta Talley Martinez in Hollis Oklahoma. He was the second child in a family of three. Ricky was employed by Harmon County for 17 years where he spent his time grading and driving a truck. He was always the life of the party. Cutting up and making jokes. He had a way of telling a story and making you believe you were right there with him. There was never a dull moment. If the room got quiet, he would make sure to blurt something out to get people laughing and lighten the mood. Ricky was a fisherman and loved to hunt. He and his wife Debbie would spend hours on the lake, pond or river fishing with their dog, peanut. He made sure his daughter Misty could shoot a gun and fish with the best of them.
Ricky married the love of his life on November 27, 1997. He didn't want a big shindig, so Thanksgiving with the family was the day they both chose. This way no one had to make a special trip, the family was already there. Besides, he said he would never forget their wedding day, he would celebrate on Thanksgiving every year.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Debbie Perkins, his mother, Aletta Martinez, three children- Misty Cummings and husband Logan, Devon Perkins and partner Jerad Gardner and Jason Perkins and wife Sandy, his brother, Eddie Thompkins and wife Dana, sister, Donna Lewis and husband Gary and too many step brothers and sisters to name as well as cousins who grew up by his side. Ricky had 8 grandchildren and one great grand child. His Nephews and niece loved him dearly and he will be forever missed. Ricky is also survived by his best friend, Robert Mingura.
Ricky was preceded in death by Joe Martinez and Otho and Lillian Talley, grandparents.
Ricky began his eternal journey of fishing in heaven on September 12, 2020.
