Obituary for Reginald Henry Hamilton
Reginald Henry Hamilton, 78, resident of Childress, Texas, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 24, 2020. He was born to his parents Robert A. Hamilton and Charlotte Mae Green Hamilton in Palestine, Texas, on April 22, 1942. Reginald grew up in Palestine and attended Lincoln High School. He was a proud graduate from Lincoln High School class of 1960. During his High school years, he played offensive lineman for his team. After graduation, Reggie enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he worked maintenance on the flight deck. Upon leaving the Air Force in 1964, Reggie started working for the Mayflower moving company as a mover. In 1978, he started a job with the City of Altus as a supervisor of sanitation. Reggie was promoted to sanitation superintendent for the City of Altus and served his community for 22 years. He attended and graduated mortuary school. He was a proud co-owner of Freedom Funeral Chapel in Altus, Oklahoma. Reggie met the love of his life Darlene Hamilton, and they were united in marriage on March 11, 1990, in Memphis, Texas.
A considerable part of Reggie’s life was ministering the word of Jesus Christ to all who would listen. He served as the pastor of the Friendship Baptist in Quanah, Texas; St. John Baptist, Altus, Oklahoma; New Mt. Zion in Memphis, Texas; St. John Baptist Church in Childress, Oklahoma, St. John Zion Baptist Church in Mangum, Oklahoma. At the time of his passing, he was serving as the lead minister of New Hope/ New Beginning Baptist Church in Childress, Texas, since 2010. Reginald enjoyed fishing, watching football and baseball, singing, listening to quartet music, but most all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a thirty-second-degree mason at the St. James Masonic Lodge #229, where he served as a past Grand Master Mason.

Reginald is preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. Hamilton and Charlotte Mae Green Hamilton; brother, Leonard Hamilton; and granddaughter, LaVanna Hamilton.

He is survived by his wife Ethel Darlene Hamilton; three sons Reginald Henry Hamilton Jr., Tony Reginald Hamilton, and Hugh E. Session Jr.; two daughters Tameron Session and Cathy Hamilton; brothers, Goldberg Hamilton and Phillip Hamilton; grandchildren, Dillan Session, Tarrington Session, Taden Session, Tony Hamilton Jr, Chanell Edwards, Molly Edwards-Griddine, Timothy Edwards, Chalitha Edwards, Corissa Hamilton, Corey Hamilton, Siri Session, Tony D. Thompson, Tori Thompson, and Tarien Thompson; fifteen great-grandchildren, an honorary daughter Debbie Edwards, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.

Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Childress, with interment to follow at Childress, Cemetery, Childress, Texas.

Services are under the direction of Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
