Obituary for Rachel V Ketchum
KETCHUM
Rachel Virginia Ketchum, age 75, of Granite, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 22, 2013, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus Oklahoma.
Rachel was born on December 18, 1937, in Alexandria, Virginia to Emmett Hampton and Mary (Keyton) Batton. Rachel grew up in Virginia and moved to Oklahoma in 1959. Soon after moving to Oklahoma, she married Johnny Ketchum in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Rachel later returned to school at age 50 to get her GED and received her Certification as a Home Health Aide. She loved her home health job and the patients with whom she came in contact. Rachel was an avid gamer, she loved poker, bingo, scrabble and many other games. In her free time, when she wasn"t gaming and taking care of others, she loved being with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Kathy Sanders; and seven siblings, Frances, Mildred, James, Durwood, Mavis, Helen and Agnes; Rachel is survived by two children, Larry Ketchum of Granite and Cindy Smith and husband Steve of Norman Oklahoma; six grandchildren Krystal Johnson and husband Shane of Mangum, Chris Snow and wife Whitney of Mangum, Jennifer Wheeler of Norman, Robert Wheeler of Oklahoma City, Amber Jackson and husband Orrin of Granite and Joanie Ketchum of California; thirteen great-grandchildren Layton and Jaycee Ketchum, Dameon, Peyton and Mckenzie Wheeler, Allie and Tessa Snow, Brynlea and Aubrea Jackson, Heston and Chayton Nelson and Haley and Garrett Gordon; three siblings Stanley Batton, Clyde Batton and Margot Batton-Zimmerman along with many other family and friends.
A memorial service for Rachel Virginia Ketchum will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Granite, Oklahoma with Pastor David Hogg officiating and under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Granite.
