Obituary for Phyliss Wendt
Phyliss Ann Wendt, 78, long time resident of Mangum passed away November 15, 2017 at Mangum Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Phyliss was born August 31, 1939 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Robert and Jesse (McKean) Burns. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1957. Phyliss married Arthur Charles Wendt in 1957. Of this union, four children were born, Tommy, Amy, Mike, and Holly. Charles and Phyliss enjoyed raising and racing their quarter horses. Phyliss was well-known around town for her love of baking delicious pies and ice cream. She ran the Salebarn Cafe, Duffers, and the Johnson Steak House. She retired as a teller at the First National Bank in Mangum. Phyliss was also long-time member of the Mangum Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children; son Tommy Wendt of Carnegie, Oklahoma; daughter, Amy and Randy Atwood of Pampa, Texas; son, Mike and Dana Wendt of Mangum, Oklahoma; daughter, Holly and Quanah Gilmore of Guthrie, Oklahoma; sister, Margaret Matson of College Station, Texas; eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Phyliss was preceded in death, by her husband Arthur Charles Wendt, by her brother Don Burns, her Parents, and friend Richard Churchwell.
Funeral services for 10:30am Saturday November 18, 2017 at the Mangum Church of Christ with Minister Todd McRay officiating. Interment to follow Riverside Cemetery.
