Perry Asher Walker, known as "P.A." of Mangum, Oklahoma, died on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the age of 91. P.A. was born on April 2, 1931, to Alvis and Romie (Wesson) Walker in Dodson, TX. He graduated from Mangum High School in the class of 1949, where he met his future wife, Evelyn Sue Johnson. They married on November 2, 1952, and had four children. He served as a Boatswain's Mate in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his years in the service, he worked as a grocery manager throughout Kansas and Iowa before returning to his hometown and opening his own store " Walker's Grocery". P.A. and Evelyn eventually moved to Bryan-College Station before retiring in Buncombe Creek, OK at Lake Texoma.
P.A. was an avid reader and baseball fan, who loved country music, jelly beans, and classic cars. Known for his warm smile and quick wit, he was a true gentleman and patriot. He loved listening and sharing stories with his many friends and family who will miss him dearly.
P.A. was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Jerry Walker, Glenn "Bud" Walker, and Nora Brown, his wife Evelyn Sue (Johnson) Walker, his daughter Sherry Walker, and his son Steven Walker.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Stacy Lane and Stacy Vic Martin, his son Perry Michael Walker, his 8 grandchildren- Jeremy Walker, Rhea Fernholz, Wendy Ahrens, T.J. Whitehill, Kyla Nease, Ty Walker, Mandy Funderburk, and Caitlin Malone, and 12 great grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Greer Funeral Home, Mangum, Oklahoma.
