Obituary for Pearl Benena Shackelford
Mrs. Pearl Benena Shackelford, age 74, died Wednesday night at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 P.M., Saturday at the Friendship Methodist Church with the Reverend Don Calvert officiating, assisted by Reverend Lonzo Battles. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Born November 12th, 1895 in Indian Territory near Loco, OK, she married Tom A. Shackelford in 1913 in Altus and they farmed in the Friendship community for a number of years. Mr. Shackelford preceded her in death in May of 1959. She was a member of the Friendship Methodist Church and WSCS.
Survivors include: one son, Wilbur Shackelford of Headrick; two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Barnes of Headrick and Jo Anne Melender of Lawton; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Harris of Headrick, Zelva Knox and Gladys Knox, both of Altus; three brothers, Frank Knox of Headrick, Douglas Knox of Altus and Leonard Knox of Blair; two grandchildren, Mrs. Twila Bearden and Miss Leah Kay Melander; three great-grandchildren.
The families requests that contributions instead of flowers, be sent to the Oklahoma Chapter, Arthritis Foundation, 825 N.E. 13th St., Oklahoma City, OK.
