Pauline Lelia Wilhite, age 95, of Mangum, passed away early Saturday morning at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mrs. Wilhite was born on September 10, 1917, to Sam L. and Lelia (Askins) Carlos, in the Greer County Community of Ozark. During her junior year, at Ozark, she married Will (Bill) Douglas Wilhite on October 24, 1935, and they spent fifty-three wonderful years together before his death on December 29, 1988. They established their first home in the Centralvue " Russell area where they farmed until moving to Granite in the mid 1940"s. In 1957, the family moved to Mangum where Pauline lived until her death. For many years, she was employed at the Greer County Cold Storage where she worked in several different positions. A longtime member of the Mangum First Baptist Church, Pauline enjoyed sewing in her spare time, but cooking was her favorite pastime.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Ancel Carlos and one granddaughter, Paula Sue Chapman, she is survived by one daughter, Ramona Sue Chapman and husband Jim of Mangum; one grandson, Mark Douglas Chapman; one great granddaughter Karla Avila and husband Bobby; one great grandson, Trevor Nealis; three great grandchildren, Reilly, Ethan and Sharli along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Pauline Wilhite will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Mangum First Baptist Church with Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home on Monday, November 26, from 6 until 7 p.m.
