Paul Wayne Morris, a longtime resident of Granite, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, public servant, farmer, rancher, and friend whose life was marked by service, dedication, and a deep love for his family and community.
Paul was born to Rosco Franklin Morris and Joan Johnson Morris. He spent his childhood growing up in the Lake Creek and Willow, Oklahoma communities and graduated from Granite High School with the Class of 1960. Following high school, he attended Sayre Junior College, where he earned his Associate Degree in 1962.
On June 16, 1962, Paul married the love of his life, Linda Marie Brooks. Together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, faith, family, and countless cherished memories. Throughout their years together, they made their homes in Sayre, Lake Creek, and Granite, Oklahoma.
Paul’s career reflected his strong commitment to serving others. He worked as a bus driver for Granite Schools before beginning a distinguished career with the State of Oklahoma. His service included positions as a Reformatory Security Officer and Vocational Rehabilitation Clerk, Probation and Parole Officer, Probation and Parole Supervisor, and State of Oklahoma Firearms Instructor. In 1979, Paul received a special assignment supporting the United States Secret Service during former President Jimmy Carter’s Town Hall event in Elk City, Oklahoma. Beyond his public service, Paul was also a dedicated farmer and rancher who took great pride in the land and agricultural heritage of western Oklahoma. He was also a dedicated servant of the Granite Church of Christ as an elder for many years.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Rosco Franklin Morris and Joan Johnson Morris; his brother, Davis Morris; his nephew, David Morris, Jr.; his grand-nephew, Michael Morris; and other beloved relatives.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Marie Morris of Granite, Oklahoma; his daughters, Shannon Wood and spouse Bruce Schulz, and Sharra Morris and partner Darla Bailey.
Paul was a proud grandfather to Jeff, age 27; Kyle, age 25; Connor, age 25; and Nathan, age 22, children of Shannon and Bruce; and Colby Hays, age 33, and spouse Kasie; Braden Gehard, age 25; and Mikayla Gehard, age 21, children of Sharra and Darla.
Paul will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, dedication to public service, strong work ethic, quiet strength, and steadfast devotion to his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched as a husband, father, grandfather, mentor, law enforcement professional, farmer, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Paul’s honor to The Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral, supporting children battling cancer and their families.
His family finds comfort in knowing that his life was well-lived, his work was meaningful, and his love for family will endure for generations to come
