Paul F. "PJ" Hammond, Jr. of Altus, Oklahoma, Oklahoma died on Jaanuary 16, 2007, from a work related accident at Altus, AFB. PJ was born in the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, on January 8, 1965, to Paul and Barbara (Kolbe) Hammond, formerly of Appleton, New York. He and his family moved to Vallejo, California, in 1970. At the age of 12, he became a member of Vallejo Chapter Order of DeMolay and later served as Master Councilor. He graduated from Hogan High School in Vallejo, California, and attended Solano Community College in Suisun, California.

At the age of 19, PJ enlisted in the Air Force. Upon completing Basic Training at Lackland AFB in Texas, he was stationed at Castle AFB in Atwater, California. While there he met and married the former Rebecca Kimberly Stout. He was also stationed at Kadena, AFB, Okinawa, where he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his service in the Air Force he received a SAC Master Technician Award, Good Conduct Medal, Outstanding Unit Ribbon in Operation Desert Shield/Storm, and several letters of appreciation and commendation.

Upon leaving the Air Force, he attended San Joaquin Valley College in Fresno, California, and while on the President's List received an Airframe and Power plant License from the FAA.

PJ and his wife moved to Altus, Oklahoma, when he was hired to work in Aircraft Maintenance as a Civil Service employee. At the time of his death, he was a Dedicated Crew Chief WG-11 on a KC-135 tanker.

PJ is survived by his wife Kimberely, (his four legged children), his parents, Paul and Barbara Hammond of Vallejo, California; his sister Linda, her husband AMGT James Greer, and two nephews, Mark Woodward and Christopher Woodward, both of Sacramento, California; his father -in-law and mother-in-law, Nick and Marie Stout of Merced, California, and numerous aunts and uncles located around the country
