Paul Edmund Travis, age 69, of Mangum, passed away late Thursday evening, February 2, 2017, at Mercy Hospital, in Oklahoma City.
Mr. Travis was born in Des Moines, Iowa on April 19, 1947, to Kendall Harding and Mable Lovisa (Clark) Travis. Leaving Des Moines as a young child, Paul and his family moved to California where he completed high school and joined the United States Air Force. Assigned to Altus Air Force Base, Paul soon met Sandra Jean Dailey and they were married on December 15, 1969, and spent the next forty-seven years together before his death. Over the next sever"al years, the family lived in many different locations with Paul"s job. In 1988, Paul retired at Langley AFB, Virginia. For the next 13 years Paul worked for MCI in Northern Virginia, retiring in 2001 and moving to Mangum. In his spare time Paul enjoyed NASCAR, Hot Rods, God and Family.
Preceded in death by his father, he is survived by his wife, Sandy Travis, of the home, in Mangum; his mother, Lovisa Travis of Marshalltown, Iowa; four children, Treasa Leal of Sterling, Virginia, Paul Travis and wife Susan of Hampton, Virginia, Michael Travis and wife Crystal of Inwood, West Virginia and John Travis and wife Dana of Mangum; sixteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Craig Travis and wife Joann of Chino, California along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Paul Travis will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Grace Christian Church with Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Granite City Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home, of Mangum.
