Obituary for Patricia Ann Tharp
Patricia Ann Tharp, 79, resident of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away on September 24, 2021, in Mangum. She was born on May 6, 1942, in Mangum, to H.M. McClendon and Mildred (Weston) Gable. Patricia graduated from Mangum High School in 1960. She met the love of her life, Jerry H. Tharp and the two married on April 2, 1961. Of this marriage the two were blessed with two daughters, Kim and Tonya. Patricia went to trade school at Western Oklahoma State College for Medical Terminology and earned her certificate in 1978. She worked for the Mangum City Hospital for twenty-five years, until she left in 1994 due to health issues. Patricia loved her piano, shopping, and crafting. Before it was popular, Patricia was a tried and true “DIY’er” taking old, outdated items and making them new again. A great love of Patricia’s life was Jesus Christ and The Assembly of Jesus Christ. She was a faithful servant to her Lord and the church. Patricia was dedicated to taking care of her family, they were truly her love and heart.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents; Grandparents, Alonzo and Pearl Weston; Brothers, Junior Jaco, Darrell McClendon, and Steve McClendon; and granddaughter Holly Ann Davis.
Left to honor her memory is her loving husband of sixty years, Jerry H. Tharp; Daughters, Kim Davis and husband Scott, and Tonya Wilder; Brother, Roy McClendon; Grandchildren, Chealsi Wilder, Megan Slaton and husband Andy and Chance Wilder; Great Grandchildren, Collin Slaton, Brennan Slaton, and Kazdyn Wilder; A host of nieces and nephews; Very special relatives in California; A dear friend, Sue Gudmundson; and Patricia’s sweet dog, Tux.
