Obituary for Patricia Ann Martin
It is with profound sadness and hearts full of love that we announce the passing of Patricia Ann (Tandy) Martin, who entered the arms of her Savior on January 22, 2025. Patti was born on January 14, 1945, in Beardstown, Illinois, where her journey of grace, resilience, and dedication began.
Patti's life was a testament to excellence, beginning with her remarkable perfect attendance record throughout her school years, culminating in her graduation from Beardstown High School. Soon after, she embarked on her professional life at a local diner, where fate intervened. In a moment that became family legend, she refused to serve Charles Martin hot sauce for his steak and eggs. That spirited exchange sparked a lifelong romance, leading to their marriage on May 20, 1964. Patti and Charles were blessed with four children, Kelly, Brandi, Chuck, and Missy.
A devoted wife and mother, Patti embraced life with unyielding strength and adaptability. Charles' career took the family across the country, from coast to coast, and Patti navigated the challenges of uprooting and resettling with grace, always prioritizing the needs of her family. In 1988, they settled into their forever home on Mary Street in Granite, Oklahoma-a cherished place where both Charles and Patti found peace and fulfillment in the Lord.
Patti's compassion extended far beyond her home. After becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), she joined the Oklahoma State Reformatory in 1988, beginning as a nurse in the medical facility. Her dedication, leadership, and unwavering work ethic saw her rise to case manager and eventually unit manager. She retired with over twenty years of service to the State of Oklahoma in May 2009. Patti took immense pride in her work and the relationships she formed, leaving an indelible mark on her colleagues and the community.
Patti's legacy of love and devotion lives on in her children: Kelly and husband, Terry; Brandi and husband, Bob; Chuck and wife, Felecia; and Missy and husband, Russell. She was a proud and beloved grandmother to Joseph Shoopman; Patrick and wife, Brittany Clark; Samuel Pence; Brittany and husband, Raymond Hamlett; Bria and husband, Branden Gray; Blake and wife, Tessa Warren; Guy Martin; Olivia Martin; Trey and wife, Kenlee Berry; Kennedy and husband, Greyden Steinmetz; and Charlie Belle Berry. She is also survived by siblings, Joy Jennings of Perkin, Illinois, Tony Tandy and wife Peggy of Sayre, Oklahoma, and Terry Tandy of Washington,Illinois. Patti's family tree continues to grow, as she leaves behind sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She also leaves behind treasured friends, countless extended family members, and a host of others who were touched by her kindness and radiant spirit. Patti is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Charles Martin; her sister, Janet Gentry; and her mother, Doris (Stock) Tandy.
